Country House on the Escarpment near Duntroon

This is a country house for a Toronto family who enjoys skiing in the winter and summer outdoor activities. The building is designed to enjoy the view to the Bay as well as the view south over a small valley. The main rooms are wrapped around a garden court. The building contains an indoor pool which opens to the garden. The garden court is designed to create shelter from the strong winds present on the escarpment. The windows to the south are designed to provide solar heat while the building is narrow and open on both sides to allow for natural ventilation. A large shed matching the house in material and character is some distance away and provides for outdoor storage and tractor parking.
