Pointe au Baril CottageĀ on an outer island

A cottage, boathouse, and outbuildings on an island near Point au Baril. This is a dramatic exposed site looking out to Georgian Bay. There is an existing cottage that was substantially renovated, a large new cottage, and the outbuildings.

There is a second floor to the new cottage but this was tucked into the large sloping roof in order to minimise its apparent height. There are two screened porches: one in the centre, joining the parts of the building, and sheltered from the wind. The second is out on the south end for the maximum exposure to view and breeze.

Some of these buildings were designed by James Ireland for Stark Ireland Architects Inc, the remainder by JIAI.
